UFC star Paddy Pimblett vows to make weight switch to secure Logan Paul fight

Paddy Pimblett is willing to gain 30lb to meet Logan Paul at 185lb if the pair can organise a high-profile fight.

The UFC's rising star has fought just twice in the promotion but has already developed a huge profile for his brash-talking personality. YouTube star Paul first claimed that he would like to face Pimblett in the UFC after thinking about a potential opponent for his cage debut.

Now Pimblett has claimed Paul has headhunted him because he is becoming the face of the UFC in the modern era. “I’ve told you all, he knows who the boy is, he knows who the face of the UFC is now and it’s me,” Pimblett told Jamal Niaz when talking to Seconds Out. “I don’t care what weight he wants to fight at. I’d fight him at 185. I’d probably get him down to 175 or something and I’d fight him at that but I’d fight him at 185."

Paul believes he identified characteristics in himself through Pimblett and believes the Liverpudlian would be the ideal candidate to sell tickets for any potential meeting. He recently reiterated his fight call-out while appearing on a podcast claiming he wants to "take out" the rising star.

Pimblett is notorious for bulking in weight following his fights in the UFC having ballooned to 200lb following his recent victory over Kazula Vargas at UFC London. That would open the door to a potential showdown with Paul particularly if he is required to make a less drastic cut to challenge him.

Paul has fought in the boxing ring on multiple occasions including against fellow content creator KSI who he fell to defeat against in 2019. However he managed to survive the distance with ring legend Floyd Mayweather last June which boosted his confidence in pursuing a combat sports career.

The 27-year-old is convinced he has what it takes to defeat Pimblett despite having no professional experience in the cage. "I think I might have him on my podcast and say to him straight up 'I would like to fight you in the UFC'," Paul said during a previous appearance on the MMA Hour. "He could get up to 185lbs and I could get down to 185lbs for a UFC match. It's the only thing I don't know if I would win, he is a good a** fighter and I have never had an MMA fight.

"If I am doing it obviously I think I am going to win. But now I am looking at it and if I do a UFC fight then I have to do it with someone else who can sell tickets. He is still relatively new and he is young and entertaining so I think the fans will eat that s*** up. There is too much going on at the moment but yeah."

He is trying to take part in a multitude of combat sports having also participated in WWE's hallmark Wrestlemania 38 event earlier this year in a tag-team partnership with The Miz.
