Paddy Pimblett has mocked Logan Paul's Prime energy drink with his own advertising campaign around London.
Pimblett has become one of the faces of the MMA roster which is largely down to his brash-talking antics and undefeated start to his career in the UFC. The Liverpudlian has attracted a lot of attention to his cage career including from YouTube star Paul who has suggested he would like to face Pimblett if he ever steps foot in the Octagon.
Pimblett accepted the call-out and the pair have been rivals ever since, with Pimblett and Paul also having rival energy drink brands which they have launched since rising to fame. Paul's energy drink, 'Prime', has seen unprecedented success since he launched it with former rival KSI, and the pair have even become an official partner with the UFC after signing a lucrative deal.
Meanwhile, Pimblett has a similar sports drink named 'BodyFuel' which he intends to release a new 'Paddy punch' flavour of next month. In a viral marketing campaign, Pimblett has mocked his rival, adding the caption 'Logan Paul loves BodyFuel' with a picture of himself celebrating a previous win in London.
He positioned the logo in a number of places around London including on a board outside the tube station near London's O2 Arena, where UFC 286 was held between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman at the weekend. He also managed to mirror the image on to the side of the iconic venue.
Pimblett posted the campaign on his Instagram, with the caption: "Even when the Baddy doesn’t fight at the o2, he still TAKES OVER LONDON! Paddy Punch Flavour BODYFUEL available next month! #Primetasteslikea** #Bodyfuel." The 28-year-old was unable to compete at the event that Paul's business partner KSI attended after leaving his last fight against Jared Gordon with injury.
Paul is confident he would be able to beat Pimblett in MMA despite having no previous experience in the sport, which has been laughed off regularly by the Briton. However, if a fight can be agreed in the cage, it would likely draw huge numbers given the pair's reputations and would be feasible with Paul holding a good relationship with UFC president Dana White.
Despite their plans, a significant size discrepancy would need to be bridged irrespective of whether a meeting was agreed in the cage or the boxing ring. Pimblett has made a violent prediction if the pair do agree to touch gloves in the future.
“I’ve told you all, he knows who the boy is, he knows who the face of the UFC is now and it’s me,” Pimblett said of Paul when talking to Seconds Out. “I don’t care what weight he wants to fight at. I’d fight him at 185. I’d probably get him down to 175 or something and I’d fight him at that but I’d fight him at 185.”
