Paddy Pimblett has been filmed choking three sparring partners to sleep in new training footage.
The Liverpudlian star has become a high-profile figure since joining the UFC where he has recorded four successive wins in the promotion. His last win came in controversial fashion against Jared Gordon late last year when he was awarded the decision by the judges despite many suggesting he was fortunate not to lose.
Pimblett suffered an ankle injury following the win which saw him limp out of the cage, with doctors later confirming he will need surgery to repair the damage next month. However this has not stopped Pimblett from sparring, where he has posted a video on YouTube of his recent experiences with three sparring partners.
The 27-year-old first posted a short clip of one fighter, who had travelled from Indonesia with others, appearing unconscious on the canvas with a coach shouting "Paddy, he is out". The second fighter clearly put up more of a fight against the UFC star but was choked out before rising to his feet shortly afterwards following the session.
A third fighter came in and was choked completely unconscious and put to sleep by Pimblett, with 'Paddy the Baddy' shouting, "I want him to tap lad" after putting him to sleep. Pimblett later saluted the bravery of the travelling fighters who clearly put up a brave effort against the wrestling skills of the prospect.
Pimblett has become notorious for his wrestling skills which have seen him tap out both Kazula Vargas and Jordan Leavitt during his two appearances in London. It remains unclear what is next for Pimblett given his expected absence from the octagon as he will begin rehabilitation from his injury in March.
One name which has been heavily in the mix is Drew Dober who has frequently made public call-outs to try and secure a fight with Pimblett when he is available to return. And the American believes fans will want to see him try to KO the rising star who has yet to have a loss in his record since signing with Dana White's banner.
“That’s one exciting fight,” Dober said. “I mean I think everyone wants to see me punch Paddy in the mouth, and to test his ‘Scouser’ theory. But it’s really all up in his field. I’m not above fighting anybody, and especially someone as well-liked as this guy. But the ball’s in his court, so I’ve accepted. I’m all for it, I’m ready to go whenever he wants. Now we’re just waiting on him.
“I wouldn’t go to say I was ‘offered’, as in I’ve been putting my name up in the mix to fight him. Now we’re just figuring out what the UFC wants to do with Paddy. And when you have x-many followers on Instagram, right? Like he has to call the shots. And yeah, we’ll see what he wants and I’ll agree to it.”
