UFC star becomes crime-stopping hero again days before latest stoppage victory

UFC welterweight Kevin Holland stopped a perfume thief just days before beating Tim Means at UFC Austin last night.

Holland has become known for his heroic acts against crime since the turn of last year, having first chased down a car thief last October before helping disarming a gunman in Texas back in March. Just last month Holland helped rescue a helpless driver from an overturned tractor-trailer after having an accident.

The 29-year-old has now described his latest crime preventing story claiming he seems to always been in the wrong places at the right time. "I don't know," Holland replied when asked about his multiple hero stories at the post-fight press conference. "I seem to be in the right places at the wrong time or the wrong places at the right time one or the other.

"Honestly when I caught that guy I should have f***** him up but I didn't. We were sat an Italian restaurant and while we were sitting outside, I went across and bought some jerk chicken but two minutes later some guy comes running out in a black trench coat. We were like 'what's going on'?

"So we went chasing this guy down the street we were running after him and I shouted 'I won't f*** you up if you put that s*** down'. By the time we got to the freeway and he put it down I was like 'cool' because I was as tired as hell. I am happy we stopped because if not we would have not won the race, but it was the first time I won a race against that man and I was happy about it."

Holland's manager revealed footage of the incident earlier in the week which showed a member of the public describing the incident before the welterweight emerged topless after chasing down the thief. Holland had added: "So we’re just sitting out here with nothing to do,” Holland said in the video.

“We had got some water from a liquor and wine stop with (coach). Then we see some guy running down the street. That’s how we did it. That’s what we did today.”

The UFC star then picked up his second victory in the welterweight division just days later when he submitted Means last night. He began the contest in the ascendency seemingly landing the better strikes in a tough opener, with his opponent clearly wobbled by some powerful shots.

His breakthrough came in the second round just a minute in when he connected with a stiff right hand which prompted him to search for the takedown. He immediately sprawled and sunk in the D'Arce choke which saw his opponent tap out and end proceedings. Holland now has two consecutive wins since in his new division after making a switch following back-to-back defeats and a no contest at middleweight.
