The UFC handed out four post-fight bonuses after Saturday’s card, including for a bloody Fight of the Night.
After UFC on ESPN 59, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances in Denver. Check out the winners below.
Performance of the Night: Montel Jackson
Montel Jackson def. Da’Mon Blackshear via knockout (punch) – Round 1, 0:18
It took Montel Jackson (14-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) just a quick 1-2 against Da’Mon Blackshear (14-7-1 MMA, 2-3-1 UFC) to put the fight away. That second one was right down the middle and put Blackshear out in just 18 seconds. Jackson has knocked down seven straight opponents, which is tied for the all-time UFC record with the likes of Chuck Liddell and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Performance of the Night: Charles Johnson
Charles Johnson def. Joshua Van via knockout (punches) – Round 3, 0:20
Charles Johnson (16-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC) took his fight against Joshua Van (10-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) on less than two weeks’ notice. He said he came out immediately to acclimate to the altitude, and in the third, after being told he was down two rounds, he drilled Van with a masterful uppercut that put his lights out 20 seconds into the final frame.

Fight of the Night: Jean Silva vs. Drew Dober
Jean Silva def. Drew Dober via TKO (doctor’s stoppage) – Round 3, 1:28
Jean Silva (14-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) seemed to drill Drew Dober (27-14 MMA, 13-10 UFC) with spinning back elbows over and over again, even it was only a couple or three clean enough to split Dober’s forehead open in a major, major way. The doctor in the third round said the cut was too deep for him to continue, and it indeed was one of the nastier ones you’ll see.
