UFC on ESPN 51 bonuses: Da’Mon Blackshear twists his way to $50K

Four bonuses were handed out after UFC on ESPN 51, including one for just the third twister submission in promotion history.

After UFC on ESPN 51, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances in Las Vegas. Check out the winners below.

Performance of the Night: Marcus McGhee

Marcus McGhee def. JP Buys via knockout (punch) – Round 1, 2:19

Marcus McGhee (8-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) closed out the preliminary card with a first-round knockout of JP Buys (9-6 MMA, 0-4 UFC). The stoppage was the seventh in seven fights on the prelims. The event overall tied a UFC record with seven first-round finishes.

Performance of the Night: Iasmin Lucindo

Iasmin Lucindo vs. Polyana Viana via submission (arm-triangle choke) – Round 2, 3:42

Iasmin Lucindo (15-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) won for the second straight time and got her first career UFC bonus when she submitted Polyana Viana (13-6 MMA, 4-5 UFC) on the main card. It was her first submission win in more than five years.

Performance of the Night: Khalil Rountree

Khalil Rountree def. Chris Daukaus via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 2:40

Khalil Rountree (12-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) looked as good as ever when he starched Chris Daukaus (12-7 MMA, 4-4 UFC), who made the move to light heavyweight from heavyweight. Rountree’s win was his fourth straight, three of which have been by knockout, and his second bonus in three fights.

Da’Mon Blackshear def. Jose Johnson via submission (twister) – Round 1, 3:47

Da'Mon Blackshear (14-5-1 MMA, 2-1-1 UFC) pulled off just the third twister finish in UFC history when he tapped Jose Johnson (15-8 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in the first round. On the canvas, Blackshear had Johnson’s back and took advantage when Johnson landed an elbow to the side of his head. Blackshear trapped his arm, then started the process that put him alongside “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and Bryce Mitchell in the UFC’s rare twister club.
