UFC on ABC 5 play-by-play and live results

UFC on ABC 5 took place Saturday and MMA Junkie provided live play-by-play and official results throughout the event.

UFC on ABC 5 took place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. The main card aired on ABC following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

In the main event, Josh Emmett (18-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) looked to get back on track following his submission loss to Yair Rodriguez in February for the interim featherweight title when he took on Ilia Topuria (13-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC), who put his unbeaten record on the line.

Cody Brundage vs. Sedriques Dumas

Round 1 – A touch of gloves here and Brundage rushes forward with a clean double leg takedown. He jumps on a guillotine as Dumas tries to get up and slips off the top. Dumas is now in top in full guard, looking to land punches, but Brundage prevents him from posturing up. Referee calls for the fighters to work and Brundage sneaks in a short elbow from bottom. A moment later Dumas is able to posture up quickly and drops back down for a heavy elbow. They continue to work for position on the mat, and Brundage powers up, jumps on a guillotine again, and loses it again. Dumas landing some heavy punches and elbows now. An upkick from Brundage just missed. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Dumas.

Round 2 – The fighters measure the range on the feet now. A single kick offered from both as the action slows. Dumas presses forward, steps back, and fires off a leg kick. Brundage circles around and then shoots for the takedown. Dumas reverses the attempt and ends up on Brundage’s back with hooks in. After focusing on controlling the position, Dumas punches and then looks for a rear-naked choke, but Brundage slips out. Dumas still has back control. He looks for the choke again, goes back to punching, and one more submission threat before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Dumas.

Round 3 – Brundage opens with a big kick that misses the mark. A heavy overhand right is offered next, but Dumas avoids it. Keeping the pressure high, Brundage looks for a takedown against the fence, and gets Dumas to the mat. Dumas works back to his feet, and Brundage once again jumps on a guillotine. This attempt is his best of the fight, but Dumas still slips out and ends up in full guard. Both connect with a couple of short strikes, but the referee still warns for action. As Dumas postures up, Brundage throws his legs up to threaten a triangle, but it’s not there, and they drop back into full guard. The 10-second clapper sounds and this one ends on the mat. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 Dumas, giving him the fight 30-27.

Jamall Emmers vs. Jack Jenkins

Round 1 – They touch gloves and get to bouncing around the cage. Emmers opens with a steep, but doesn’t connect. They trade leg kicks, with Jenkins’ offering more powerful. A takedown shot from Emmers is stuffed. Emmers circles around on the outside, still very light on his feet. Jenkins kicks to the body and Emmers responds with a few punches to the body. Emmers goes for a head kick, doesn’t get it, and Jenkins charges forward with punches. They trade strikes in the center of the cage. Jenkins’ body kick connects well, and Emmers catches it at the end. Another body kick gets in for Jenkins. Emmers spins with a body kick, then lands a right. Jenkins responds with a nice punch and kick of his own. Standing in the center of the cage, they exchange punches and kicks to the body in close range. The crowd reacts to each connection. They’re brawling now, swinging fast punches. Emmers steps in for a knee that misses, but his foot connects low, causing a pause in the action. When they resume, Emmers darts forward with a jumping kick. One more intense exchange before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Jenkins.

Round 2 – A hard leg kick lands for Jenkins, buckling Emmers momentarily. Jenkins goes back to the leg kick and punches after. Emmers counters an offering with a pair of punches. A body kick from Jenkins is blocked. A fast two-punch combo from Emmers precedes a spinning backfist. Jenkins is right there to return fire with punches and a leg kick. Emmers threatens the takedown but doesn’t commit. They exchange leg kicks. Jenkins punches to the body and Emmers responds with a leg kick. Emmers then goes to the head with a kick. Jenkins lands a left in the next exchange. Emmers lands to the body in a combination. Jenkins kicks high and it’s blocked, but then lands the leg kick to the opposite side after. Emmers lands a nice left hand. Jenkins doubles up with body kicks. Emmers cracks with a right hand a moment later. The action is fast here. Jenkins gets in on a takedown attempt, but Emmers reverses and ends up on top before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Emmers.

Round 3 – They get right back to trading punches in the opening moments. Emmers switches things up with a takedown and lands in full guard. The referee calls for action and Emmers looks to improve his positioning. He steps over to half guard and Jenkins nearly turns to give up his back. Emmers sees the rear-naked choke is there and goes for it, but Jenkins quickly turns back into him to prevent it from being locked in. A moment later, Jenkins works back up to his feet and they get back to trading strikes. Emmers kicks to the body and then looks for the headlock takedown. Jenkins reverses it and ends up on top in guard. Emmers hits a very nice sweep and takes top position. Jenkins offers shorts punches and elbows from bottom while Emmers controls. Emmers lands a few of his own right before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Emmers, giving him this close fight with a score of 29-28.

Chepe Mariscal vs. Trevor Peek

Round 1 – They open fast with an exchange of kicks. Peek resets to measure the range. Mariscal goes to a leg kick and Peek responds with a punch. Mariscal lands a heavy overhand right. Peek blitzes in with punches. They clinch and Mariscal tosses him to the mat for a moment. Peek gets up and they start brawling in a phone booth. The crowd is loving the wild action. They reset and Peek gets back in on the clinch as the crowd chants his name. Mariscal lands a big knee that stuns Peek. Mariscal gets a takedown and finds the back of Peek. He locks in a deep rear-naked choke, but Peek somehow escapes. Mariscal punches from the back as Peek powers back up to the feet. They let their hands go but Peek’s punch goes south. The action is paused for a moment, but when they resume, they get right back into the action by trading kicks. Punching exchanges follow with Mariscal moving forward. Peek gets some forward momentum going with a solid flurry. Peek then lands more punches, swinging big standing hammerfists. Mariscal responds with punches and then gets a takedown. Mariscal goes for an armbar, but Peek scrambles out. Mariscal is quick and ends up on top. They get back to the feet before the horn and offer a few more strikes. MMA Junkie scores this wild round 10-9 for Mariscal.

Round 2 – They touch gloves to begin the round and get back to trading strikes. Peek closes in against the fence and they clinch. While jockeying for position against the fence, they both sneak in a few short strikes. Mariscal hits the trip and gets the fight to the mat. Peek works his way back up to the feet, and unloads with a few hard punches to the body. Mariscal hits an inside leg kick that knocks Peek off balance. Mariscal takes top position on the ground, but Peek is quick to reverse. Mariscal threatens the armbar, but Peek is wise to it. They scramble for position and end up in the clinch on the feet against the fence. Mariscal presses Peek against the cage a lands a nice knee. Peek responds with a hard punch. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Mariscal.

Round 3 – Peek marches forward with a few leg kicks and then lands a big left hand against the cage. Mariscal clinches and they reset in the center. Peek darts in with a hard uppercut to the body. This sparks a wild exchange of punches with both fighters landing hard. They clinch, slowing the action for a moment, but when they separate, the strikes continued to fly. Peek takes a moment to gather his thoughts as Mariscal waves him in. Mariscal lands a big overhand right as Peek rushes in. Mariscal plays to the crowd a little bit before getting back to landing cleanly. Peek looks up at the clock and charges forward. Mariscal clinches, but Peek separates and then rushes forward with more strikes. A huge front kick lands for Mariscal and he follows up with a flurry of punches. Peek responds, but Mariscal lands a few more punches before the end. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Mariscal, giving him the fight 30-27.

Joshua Van vs. Zhalgas Zhumagulov

Round 1 – They open up with an exchange of strikes. A Zhumagulov left hook lands before a leg kick. Van works behind his left jab. Zhumagulov kicks to the leg again. A left jab stings for Van. Zhumagulov closes in for a clinch against the cage, but can’t get the fight to the mat. They return to the center and continue trading punches. Van adds a kick up the middle. Zhumagulov lands a left uppercut. They exchange punches, both landing cleanly. Zhumagulov changes levels and get the takedown, but Van pops right back up. Zhumagulov sticks with it and gets him down again for a brief moment. Van works his way free and they return to the middle to trade a few more strikes before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 Zhumagulov.

Round 2 – They get right back into the action with Zhumagulov offering left hooks and leg kicks and Van responding with similar strikes. An inside leg kick scores for Zhumagulov, but Van responds with a nice outside kick. A moment later Van lands a hard right hand in an exchange. They keep the volume high with punches as they move around the cage. Van charges forward with a pair of punches but the big kick at the end misses. Zhumagulov catches a kick and thinks about the takedown, but gives up on it quickly. Van connects with the head kick this time and the blitz is on against the fence. Zhumagulov covers up and weathers the storm. Van keeps the pressure up as Zhumagulov appears hurt, but he’s firing back now. Van’s confidence is high as he stalks with his hands down for a moment. Zhumagulov has some blood on his nose, but he looks to have recovered from the flurry. The action is still heavy, with Van leading the way with nice combinations. Zhumagulov misses with a spinning backfist before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Van.

Round 3 – Zhumagulov offers a number of punches to start the third, but Van is sharp defensively and lands well with his counters. Van moves forward with punching combinations. An accidental clash of heads briefly pauses the action, but they quickly get back into the thick of it. The exchanges are fast and frequent. Both fighters land as Van moves forward. Zhumagulov grabs the clinch and quickly lets it go to keep striking. Van continues his forward pressure and mixes in a couple of kicks. A Zhumagulov body kick is nearly caught. A moment later Van attempts a wheel kick but it misses. More punches are traded as the volume remains high. They exchange one last time before Van circles away and begins to celebrate as the horn sounds. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Van, giving him the fight 29-28.

Tabatha Ricci vs. Gillian Robertson

Round 1 – Ricci opens with a pair of kicks as Robertson counters with right hands. Robertson lands a right elbow as Ricci looked to land again. Robertson grabs the leg of Ricci for a takedown, but can’t complete it. Now Ricci catches a kick from Robertson and gets the fight to the ground with a nice takedown. Robertson gets back up to her feet fairly quickly, though. They exchange punches in the center of the cage. Ricci lands a nice right hand. Robertson slaps with an outside leg kick. After more exchanges, Ricci gets another takedown, but they return to the feet quickly. An inside leg kick from Ricci knocks Robertson off balance. They continue to look for strikes on the feet until the horn sounds. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Ricci.

Round 2 – Robertson’s opening head kick is blocked. Ricci looks to respond with a pair of punches. A right hand lands for Robertson. Ricci steps in with an elbow. Robertson looks for the takedown but is met with an uppercut. They continue to trade as Ricci circles on the outside. Robertson connects with a leg kick. Ricci is quicker with punches here, but neither fighter is putting a lot of power behind their strikes, nor landing very cleanly. Ricci catches a kick and gets a takedown. Robertson returns to her feet while holding a Thai clinch. Punches and leg kicks are offered from both as they circle around the cage. The crowd starts wooing as the fighters move around the cage. Ricci returns to her corner with blood trickling down her nose. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Ricci.

Round 3 – They touch gloves and get back to looking for a home for strikes. Ricci kicks to the body and an exchange upstairs follows. Ricci continues to be a tough target to hit as she circles on the outside. Robertson closes the distance and changes levels for the takedown. Robertson controlled from the top for a few moments, but Ricci scrambled back to her feet and looked for a takedown of her own. The fight returns to the center of the cage, where Ricci continued to circle and pump out the left hand. More exchanges of punches occur, with Ricci getting the better of them. A Robertson kick is nearly caught, but Ricci lets go and gets back to punching and circling. Robertson clinches with 15 seconds remaining and Ricci shakes her off. They trade again before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the fight 10-9 for Ricci, giving her the fight 30-27.

Loik Radzhabov vs. Mateusz Rebecki

Round 1 – Rebecki kicks to the body but is met with a hard right hand from Radzhabov. Another right hand from Radzhabov finds the mark as Rebecki tries for another kick to the body. Rebecki pressures and kicks to the inside leg and the body. Radzhabov doesn’t like it and circles away to reset. Rebecki doesn’t give much room and lands a punch. Another inside leg kick lands hard for Rebecki. Keeping Radzhabov against the fence, Rebecki punches to the body and upstairs before changing levels for a nice takedown. Rebecki transitions to side control, but Radzhabov is able to scramble back up to the feet. Rebecki lands a nice punch on the exit. A moment later a big inside leg kick from Rebecki takes Radzhabov off his feet. Rebecki takes top position on the mat and locks in a crucifix. He then goes for a straight armbar but can’t get it. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Rebecki.

Round 2 – After a quick touch of gloves, they exchange punches. A hard inside leg kick lands for Rebecki and Radzhabov retreats, favoring the left leg. Rebecki pressures with punches and lands another kick to the injured leg of Radzhabov. Rebecki kicks to the opposite leg now. Radzhabov fires back with a punch, but Rebecki continues to chop away at the right leg. Radzhabov falls to the canvas after another leg kick. Rebecki lets him up and keeps looking for the leg kicks. Radzhabov tries to punch back to keep Rebecki honest, but can’t move well on his legs. Rebecki lands a clean left hand to drop Radzhabov, and the referee rushes in and stops the fight.

Randy Brown vs. Wellington Turman

Round 1 – Brown quickly takes control of the center and begins pumping out the left jab. He then puts a right hand behind it to pop Turman backward. A moment later Turman fires back with a punch of his own. Brown keeps working behind the left hand as Turman looks for leg kicks. Brown goes high with a kick, and Turman responds with a calf kick. They exchange punches, but an accidental thumb poke to the eye of Turman pauses the fight. Back to the action, Turman continues to focus on the calf kicks. Brown is starting to give big reactions to the technique. Brown clinches and looks for knees to the body. One goes low, causing the fight to pause again for another accidental foul. The fight resumes, and Turman goes back to the calf kick. Turman then punches upstairs, and Brown answers. Brown tries a jumping knee and then gets a takedown right before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Brown.

Round 2 – Brown darts in and out with quick punches to start the round. Turman charges forward with a two-punch combo a moment later. Another calf kick from Turman gets home. He initiates a clinch with Brown against the fence, landing a nice short elbow. Brown reverses position to put Turman against the cage, and knees to the body and the thighs. They keep wrestling for position while pummeling for underhooks. Eventually Turman drags Brown to the mat, but they quickly return to the feet in the clinch. The crowd voices their displeasure with the action. Turman goes for a knee, but Brown catches it and takes him down. Brown then takes the back as Turman stands up. The rear-naked choke threat is there, but the horn sounds before Brown can commit. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Brown.

Round 3 – Turman lands a nice right hand early. Brown offers a high kick and another to the body before Turman closes the distance to clinch. Brown looks for the Thai clinch and offers a knee, prompting Turman to back away. Turman comes right back in to clinch and Brown attempts a jumping knee. Turman goes to back to the leg kick. Brown circles away and evades a high kick. A body kick from Brown finds the mark. Turman gets the clinch against the cage, but Brown breaks free and lands a nice combination of punches. Turman clinches again and gets a nice short elbow. Brown is bleeding from the nose as they keep wrestling against the cage. Turman’s spinning backfist just misses. Brown spins himself with a kick to the body. Turman closes the distance again to clinch and lands another hard short elbow. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Turman, but the fight goes to Brown 29-28.

Neil Magny vs. Phil Rowe

Round 1 – Rowe closes the distance quickly and offers a couple of strikes before clinching and pressing Magny against the fence. They wrestle for position, and Magny gets Rowe’s back against the cage. The referee tells the fighters to work as they keep jockeying for position. Magny slaps Rowe’s head after the position reverses again. The crowd starts wooing as the fighters continue to put each other against the cage. With about 90 seconds remaining, they return to the center and exchange punches. Rowe lands a nice right hand to get Magny’s attention. After resetting, Magny rushes forward with a blitz of punches. After another exchange, they wind up in the clinch again and short elbows are traded on the exit. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Rowe.

Round 2 – They meet in the center and Rowe taunts Magny to throw punches. Magny doesn’t bite and backs away but Rowe follows with strikes. He then changes levels and gets a takedown. As Magny stands, Rowe takes the back and gets the standing body triangle in. Rowe gives up the triangle as he looks to get Magny back to the ground. He gets him down for a moment, but Magny pops up quickly. They’re back to wrestling for position against the cage. Magny gets some space and fires off a quick combination of punches before they clinch again, but this time Magny is dictating the pressure. They return to the middle in the closing seconds and Magny gets a Thai clinch with a few heavy knees to the body before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Magny.

Round 3 – Punches and kicks are exchanged in the center to start the final round. Magny gets off a nice combination. They clinch in the center, but Rowe shakes it off and then slaps with a leg kick. Magny returns fire with punches. The clinch again in the center of the cage. Magny looks for the trip and it’s not there. Rowe pushes Magny against the cage. They separate after the referee calls for action and return to the middle with two minutes to go. Another clinch, but Magny gets a Thai plum and offers knees up the middle. After separating, Rowe lands a nice uppercut before Magny clinches and looks to get the fight to the ground. Rowe defends well and they get back to the center of the cage. Rowe leads with punches in an exchange. Another clinch is initiated by Magny and the fight ends after a couple of short punches against the cage. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Magny, giving him the fight 29-28.

Brendan Allen vs. Bruno Silva

Round 1 – Allen opens the action with a right high kick that Silva defends. Another of the same is offered a moment later. Allen goes for it a third time and connects partially. He then goes for a takedown, but Silva shakes it off. Allen clinches and lands a nice short elbow against the cage. The referee calls for action and threatens to separate the fighters. They do it themselves, and Silva lands a hard punch to hurt Allen. They exchange punches and Allen gets his composure. He then cracks Silva with a clean punch, but the takedown attempt that came after was blocked. The fight is turning into a brawl now as they exchange heavy punches. Allen drops Silva with a clean right! Silva is slumped on the canvas against the cage and Allen rushes in to follow up. Silva covers up well, so Allen transitions to side control, and then to the back when Silva turns away. Allen then slaps on a rear-naked choke and it’s very deep. There’s the tap! Allen gets the job done in an exciting first round.

David Onama vs. Gabriel Santos

Round 1 – They meet in the middle and Santos starts off the fight with a nice leg kick. Onama lands a left as Santos goes for another leg kick. Santo lands a hard right that pushes Onama back. Another intense exchange follows, this time with Onama landing a clean right. Santos fires back and then goes for a takedown, but it gets reversed and Onama ends up on top in guard. Santos pushes Onama off and the fight gets back to standing. They’re back to trading crisp punches in the center of the cage. Onama circles on the outside and Santos fires off a few kicks. He adds a left hand that causes Onama to reset. Another punch from Santos lands cleanly and Onama is hurt. Onama shoots for a takedown but Santos reverses and jumps on an armbar attempt. Onama scrambles free and they get back to the feet. A nice knee to the body lands for Onama. A moment later, another knee and punch land on Santos, who then gets a takedown. Round 2 – Santos goes for a head kick to start, followed by a kick to the body. A second later, he lands a spinning backfist that prompts a wild flurry of strikes from both fighters. Santos then gets a takedown and takes Onama’s back. He gets the body triangle locked in, but Onama exploded out of it to get back to full guard. Onama lands a pair of hard elbows from top. Santos tries to push Onama away, but only gets separation for a moment as Onama drives back in to keep the fight on the ground. Regardless, the fight returns to the feet a couple of seconds later. Onama lands a nice left as Santos closes in. A spinning kick to the body partially lands for Santos. Onama responds with an uppercut. A pair of step-in elbows followed by a right hook lands for Onama. Santos tries to close the distance but Onama meets him with a vicious uppercut followed by a left hook that puts him out! Santos crashes to the canvas and Onama hits the same celebration Israel Adesanya did when he knocked out Alex Pereira. Wow!

Austen Lane vs. Justin Tafa

Round 1 – Tafa stalks forward while Lane circled on the outside. Tafa swings with a big punch but Lane evaded. On the next exchange, Tafa went for another big punch just as Lane offered an overhand right. On the exit, Lane went to push off, but his finger went deep into Tafa’s eye for a nasty poke. Tafa folded over in pain and the doctor was brought in to check it out. Blood started to trickle from the poked eye, and eventually, the fight was called off as Tafa was unable to see. Super unfortunate ending here just as the fight was getting started.

Maycee Barber vs. Amanda Ribas

Round 1 – They meet in the middle and begin sizing each other up. Barber offers a front kick but misses. She tries it again, and Ribas catches it and pushes Barber to the ground. Ribas spins with a nice kick. Barber responds with a nice right hand a few moments later. Ribas turns up the pressure and keeps Barber’s back against the fence. They exchange punches, but Ribas gets the better of it with a nice right. Barber lands a solid punch and Ribas clinches. Barber frames and blasts Ribas with a hard elbow that bloodies the Brazilian. Barber gets a headlock takedown and takes the back momentarily, but Ribas gets free and returns to the feet. They exchange on the feet, but now Barber is starting to tee off. Another takedown attempt here and Ribas rolls for a kneebar. Barber is wise to it and stays heavy. She’s landing big ground and pound punches now. Ribas is able to hold on just enough to prevent a stoppage before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Barber.

Round 2 – Barber connects with a front kick to the face early. Barber looks for a takedown, but Ribas is ready for it and counters nicely with a punch that causes blood to flow from the nose. They exchange punches and both find the mark before Ribas gets in on a headlock takedown. From guard, Ribas goes to a can opener. Barber gets out of the hold and gets her back to the fence, eventually getting back to her feet. The fight returns to the center, and Ribas lands a huge punch to rock Barber. Ribas rushes in, but Barber responds with a head kick and a hard right of her own. Ribas is rocked and she tries to retreat. The swarm is on! Barber keeps pouring on the offense and Ribas looks for a takedown to slow the onslaught. Barber wasn’t having it and reversed it. More punches are rained down and the referee saw enough for the TKO stoppage. What a finish by Barber!

Josh Emmett vs. Ilia Topuria

Round 1 – No touch of gloves, and Emmett opens up with a flurry of strikes as he rushes forward. Another three-punch combo from Emmett follows a few moments later. Topuria remains calm and stalks, still looking to get his reads. A nice short right lands for Topuria as Emmett closed the distance. An intense exchange soon followed. They trade punches again, with Topuria missing with a very hard left at the end. In the next exchange, Topuria was more accurate and caught Emmett clean. This time Topuria goes with an uppercut to the body. Emmett answers with a two-punch combo. Emmett darts forward with a combo but Topuria evades. Swelling is apparent under the left eye of Emmett. Topuria lands a nice combo, then adds a leg kick to his offense. Another leg kick scores. Emmett goes for a head kick but Topuria has his guard up. A nice outside leg kick lands for Emmett. Both land nicely in exchanges before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 Topuria.

Round 2 – Topuria comes out working behind a left jab. Emmett offers a leg kick. After circling, Emmett lands an overhand right and Topuria responds with a leg kick. Emmett darts forward with two punches, but Topuria defends well. A moment later, Topuria counters well with a hard right hand. More punches score for Topuria, including another right. Emmett circles on the outside looking for an opening as Topuria stalks. A hard leg kick digs in for Topuria. A sharp combo stings Emmett. The takedown that follows is easily stopped by Topuria. Then Topuria cracks and drops Emmett with another hard combination ending in a right. As Topuria rushes, Emmett fires back and trips Topuria. Emmett gets cracked again with a hard punch and goes down to a knee. Topuria swarms, but Emmett is able to cover up and get back to his feet. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Topuria.

Round 3 – Heated exchanges start the round, with Emmett landing nicely. Topuria responds with an outside leg kick that knocks him off balance. They continue to trade punches as they cover every corner of the cage. Topuria’s pressure keeps Emmett on the outside as he works behind the left jab. Topuria stings Emmett with a right hand. They start to trade wildly. Both fighters land clean punches. It seems someone could drop at any moment. Emmett is bloodied but keeps Topuria honest with his punches. Topuria keeps firing, though. Jabs and two-punch combos score for Topuria in close range. Emmett circles to reset, and Topuria keeps chase. More jabs from Topuria land. Emmett sneaks in a nice right hand. Topuria swings with the left, and Emmett looks for a pair of huge hooks, but catches air. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Topuria.

Round 4 – Emmett comes out leading the action with punches, but Topuria’s defense is solid. A few seconds later, Emmett charges ahead with a combo, but Topuria dips and circles out of danger. Topuria then fires off a series of left jabs as they move around the cage. A hard leg kick takes Emmett off balance momentarily. The jab continues to score for Topuria. Another hard leg kick from Topuria digs in to the lead leg. Emmett keeps a good poker face, but that one hurt. Topuria jabs again, and Emmett rushes forward with a combo, but it’s mostly blocked. Topuria cracks with a well-timed jab. A few seconds later, Topuria drops Emmett with a beautifully-placed punch. Emmett covers up and gets back to his feet, but Topuria is looking for the finish! Emmett swings back, but can’t connect. Topuria keeps pouring on the pressure. Emmett goes down again and now Topuria takes full mount and rains down punches. Emmett gives up his back and survives to see the next round. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-8 for Topuria.

Round 5 – Emmett comes out swinging for the fences, putting Topuria on his back foot. Topuria isn’t playing Emmett’s game and calmly circles away from the big strikes. Emmett keeps measuring for big overhand punches, but can’t find the mark through Topuria’s defense. Topuria pops out the left jab, but Emmett responds with a punch to the body followed by a hook upstairs. Topuria decides it’s time to switch things up and gets a nice takedown. Emmett scrambles back up to one knee against the cage with Topuria controlling from the top side. Topuria drags him back down to the mat and a wild scramble for position follows. Topuria ends up on top and keeps control while trying to land a few punches. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Topuria, giving him the fight 50-44 overall.
