UFC London: Tom Aspinall to headline in heavyweight clash with Alexander Volkov

Tom Aspinall will headline UFC London on March 19.

Announced on Tuesday, Apsinall (#10) will square off against number 5 ranked heavyweight Alexander Volkov inside The 02 arena next month on a stacked card that also includes Paddy Pimblett and Nathaniel Wood.

Volkov (34-9, fighting out of Moscow, Russia) returns to the Octagon® looking to make a statement against his up-and-coming opponent. A black belt in karate, Volkov cemented his status in the heavyweight division with wins over Alistair Overeem and Greg Hardy. Most recently, Volkov went the distance with Marcin Tybura at UFC 267 and came out victorious with a unanimous decision win. He looks to continue that momentum by stopping Aspinall in emphatic fashion in London.

England’s Aspinall (11-2, fighting out of Atherton, England) aims to continue his ascent up the heavyweight rankings and capitalise on his first-ever UFC main event. A talented boxer, Aspinall has secured thrilling wins against Andrei Arlovski and Sergey Spivak. Since joining UFC’s roster, he has finished all his opponents within the first two rounds.

Pimblett (17-3, fighting out of Liverpool, England) stunned spectators with his first-round finish against Luigi Vendramini in his UFC debut last September. The lightweight aims to show off the skills that gained him status as one of the UK’s top prospects. Pimblett plans to pick up where he left off last year with a convincing win over Vargas in front of a home crowd.

Vargas (12-4, fighting out of Mexico City, Mexico) intends to make a statement against fellow lightweight Pimblett at The O2. Vargas made his UFC debut in 2019 and has since had a standout win over Rong Zhu, Vargas went the distance and won via unanimous decision.
