The UFC is headed back to Texas – but this time it’s for a Fight Night event in a different city.
UFC Fight Night scheduled for June 18 will take place in Austin, Texas. The promotion was granted a license Wednesday by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) to hold the card in that city.
Multiple people with knowledge of the situation tell MMA Junkie the promotion also informed at least a portion of the fighters scheduled to compete on that date of the event location.
The event will mark the third time the promotion has held a non-pay-per-view event in front of a capacity arena since the COVID-19 pandemic began. In March, the UFC returned to live crowds for televised cards with an event in London and Columbus, Ohio.
UFC president Dana White had mentioned Austin as a likely stop in the immediate future when he rattled off targeted American cities at the UFC 273 post-fight news conference.
The card marks the fourth time the UFC has brought an event to Austin. In 2010, the promotion held its first with UFC Fight Night 22 headlined by Nate Marquardt vs. Rousimar Palhares. In 2014, it returned for UFC Fight Night 57, which featured a main event between Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson. The most recent Austin card to date was UFC Fight Night 126 with Donald Cerrone vs. Yancy Medeiros atop the bill. All three events were held at Frank Irwin Center.
The current UFC Austin lineup includes:
- Julian Marquez vs. Gregory Rodrigues
- Phil Hawes vs. Deron Winn
- Kyle Daukaus vs. Roman Dolidze
- Gloria de Paula vs. Maria Oliveira
- JP Buys vs. Cody Durden
- Jamsine Jasudavicius vs. Natalia Silva
- Damir Ismagulov vs. Guram Kutateladze
- Cody Stamann vs. Eddie Wineland
- Court McGee vs. Jeremiah Wells
