UFC Fight Night 218 bonuses: Serghei Spivac’s domination worthy of an extra $50,000

The UFC handed out four post-fight bonuses after Saturday’s card, including one to the main event winner.

After UFC Fight Night 218, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances in Las Vegas. Check out the winners below.

Performance of the Night: Serghei Spivac

Serghei Spivac def. Derrick Lewis via submission (arm-triangle choke) – Round 1, 3:05

Serghei Spivac (16-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) absolutely wrecked Derrick Lewis (26-11 MMA, 17-9 UFC) without much resistance in the main event. Spivac took Lewis down early, and each time he worked his way back to his feet, Spivac dragged him back a little easier. Ultimately, he got into position to work for an arm-triangle choke and latched onto it with ease. Lewis tapped quickly to give Spivac his third straight stoppage win.

Performance of the Night: Anshul Jubli

Anshul Jubli def. Jeka Saragih via TKO (strikes) – Round 2, 3:44 – to win “Road to UFC” lightweight tournament

Anshul Jubli (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made Jeka Saragih (13-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) pay for some early showmanship. Jubli wore Saragih down, mounted him in the second round, then ground-and-pounded him until he got the stoppage and a UFC contract as the lightweight winner of “Road to UFC.”

Performance of the Night: Rinya Nakamura

Rinya Nakamura def. Toshiomi Kazama via knockout (punch) – Round 1, 0:33 – to win “Road to UFC” bantaweight tournament

Rinya Nakamura (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) came out like a bat out of hell against Toshiomi Kazama (10-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and didn’t let up until he had a big knockout in just 33 seconds. Kazama came forward recklessly, himself, but Nakamura landed first and never took his foot off the gas to win a contract as the bantamweight winner of “Road to UFC.”

Performance of the Night: Tatsuro Taira

Tatsuro Taira def. Jesus Santos Aguilar via verbal submission (armbar) – Round 1, 4:20

Tatsuro Taira (13-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) opened the night strong with a bonus-winning submission of Jesus Aguilar (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC). After he survived a guillotine choke attempt from Aguilar early, Taira battled back and caught him with a triangle choke that turned into an armbar and forced Aguilar to tap verbally.
