Erin Blanchfield showed why she’s one of the most highly touted prospects in the women’s flyweight division on Saturday when she taped out JJ Aldrich at UFC Fight Night 207.
The 23-year-old Blanchfield (9-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who is the sixth youngest active fighter on the UFC roster, finished Aldrich (11-5 MMA, 7-4 UFC) with a standing guillotine choke in the second round of the bout, which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
After a bit of a slow start through the first round, Blanchfield showed why she was a heavy betting favorite by latching on the choke and forcing Aldrich to tap at the 2:38 mark of Round 2.
“I felt she wasn’t defending her neck, so I felt my right arm get in there,” Blanchfield said in her post-fight interview with Paul Felder. “It’s something I train all the time in the gym, so I know when it’s there.”

With three straight wins to begin her UFC tenure, Blanchfield said she now feels comfortable calling her shots, and she wants the winner of the UFC 276 matchup between Jessica Eye and Maycee Barber.
“I’m trying to move up the rankings, and I want the winner of Eye vs. Barber,” Blanchfield said. “I think both of those girls are great and I’ll finish them too.”
