UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya didn't appreciate the post-fight interviewers' timing after Devin Haney defeated George Kambosos Jr for the undisputed lightweight title.
Haney outclassed Kambosos over 12 rounds in front of over 41,000 of his fans at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, with the ring mobbed by media and team members after the contest. And Adesanya, who competes in the more controlled UFC environment, felt that it was inappropriate for broadcasters to demand interviews so soon after the bout.
It is standard fare in boxing for the ring to be filled with camera crews, teammates, family members and reporters from the broadcast partners after a major bout. In Haney and Kambosos' case, there were major broadcasters in America and Australia from ESPN and Foxtel's 'Main Event' respectively who needed separate interviews.
