RIO DE JANEIRO – It took Gilbert Burns nine months to find a fight, and less than five minutes to end it at UFC 283.
In the UFC 283 featured bout, Burns (21-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) submitted Neil Magny (27-10 MMA, 20-9 UFC) by arm-triangle choke at 4:15 of Round 1. The welterweight bout was part of the pay-per-view main card at Jeunesse Arena.
After a brief feeling-out process, Burns got hold of Magny and the beginning of the end commenced. Burns elevated and dropped Magny to the canvas. Slowly but surely, Burns moved into mount. Once there, Burns quickly grabbed hold of Magny’s neck and shifted to the side, the submission locked.
