UEFA have always had an understanding between them and the Premier League to not schedule fixtures on Champions League nights, but that could all change to due to the issues currently facing English football.
Due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the decision by the FA to postpone that weekend's games, fixture congestion is now at an all-time high and teams are constantly having to postpone games.
With the games this weekend having to be moved due to a lack of police presence, it's now possible that both Leeds United's game against Manchester United and Chelsea's match against Liverpool will be played on either a Champions League, Europa League or Conference League night.
Both matches had to be moved due to being scheduled on a Sunday, the day before the Queen's funeral, meaning police forces would be stretched dealing with the amount of travel and people.
Leeds already had their match against Nottingham Forest postponed and will now face up to a month without a scheduled match because of the two-week international break that's about to begin.
According to i News, the deal between both UEFA and the Premier League to not schedule fixtures during European nights is not a UEFA regulation but rather a Memorandum of Understanding, meaning it's not a legally binding agreement.
Because the Winter World Cup is also fast approaching, there are no free midweeks in between now and November 20 when the competition starts.
Four midweeks are taken up by European fixtures - which'll now also be used to reschedule Premier League fixtures with clubs that aren't playing in those European competitions -, one is taken up by the Carabao Cup third round and another is already packed by Premier League fixtures that have been scheduled.
Another way of dealing with the fixture congestion is the rumoured scrapping of FA Cup replays to limit the amount of game time players will have to go through.
Whatever happens next, teams will hope that to keep injuries to a minimum while retaining the most amount of rest for their players. With the World Cup just over two months away, clubs including Leeds will be wary of internationally-capped players wanting to make their national squads.
