UEFA’s social media team made a huge error when promoting this year’s Champions League final ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Real Madrid.
The ultimate showdown is set to take place in Istanbul and the football governing body are due to offer a fan the chance to be there by handing them tickets should they answer five questions correctly.
However, it seems the Twitter admin scheduled the post prematurely, indicating that one team had already progressed to face Inter Milan. The feature photo within the attached link showed Real Madrid in the final alongside already-qualified Inter Milan.

UEFA's tweet read: “The finalists are confirmed and the scene is set. Answer 5 questions correctly for the chance to head to Istanbul!” The tweet naturally gathered a swathe of perplexed reactions in the comments.
It was also shortly discovered that another post that showed City in the final had been released. Both tweets have now since been deleted. Real Madrid are the defending champions and are gunning for their 15th crown.
Meanwhile, City are hoping to reach the final for the second time in the competition’s history having lost the 2021 final to Chelsea. The tie is locked at 1-1 after last week’s encounter at the Bernabeu.
Speaking ahead of the potentially treble-defining clash, Pep Guardiola said: "I’ve told the players to live it as a huge opportunity and enjoy the moment. We are incredibly lucky to be here.
“It’s in our hands, it depends on us, we don’t have to do anything exceptional, just be ourselves and win one game to reach the final. We’ll do everything, I have an incredible feeling about the team and whatever happens, thank you so much to them for getting us here again."
Meanwhile, there are fears that the final may have to be moved from Istanbul should political unrest arise in Turkey amid the country’s leadership election results.
