The first of two UEFA-mandated lies came shortly before the Champions League final was slated to kick off at the Stade de France.
Those already inside the stadium in Paris were told, via the big screen, the start time would be delayed due to "the late arrival of fans". It seemed that European football's governing body hadn't wasted much time attempting to shape the 'narrative' to suit their own PR sheen.
The Liverpool fans who were stranded on the outside knew little of this particular trick, though, and instead continued to wait, in their thousands, as the tear gas was dispersed in their general direction.
