UEFA have officially clarified that Scott McTominay's 'goal' against Spain on Thursday night was ruled out for offside, despite referee Serdar Gözübüyük signalling that it had been disallowed because of a foul by Jack Hendry on Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon.
The big screens in the Estadio de la Cartuja also stated that a foul had been the reason the goal had been chalked off in controversial fashion, but UEFA have now responded to a query from Herald Sport to confirm it was Hendry's positioning that was penalised.
Further queries put to UEFA around how and when the officials arrived at that decision given the initial indication was for a foul to have taken place, and if they would consider releasing the audio of the conversations between the on-field officials and the VAR team, as yet remain unanswered.
