An Uddingston church has opened their doors to the public to offer a heated community space and bite to eat every Tuesday.
St John the Baptist Church hall, on Lower Millgate in the town, are welcoming people between the hours of 12pm and 4pm to pop along and enjoy some company in a heated hall.
The initiative also aims to help people during the current cost of living crisis by providing the offer of a free bowl of soup, coffee, tea and a biscuit to anyone who comes along.
The hall is open to any member of the community, whether they are church-goers or not with the intention of also easing loneliness or isolation but also just for people to enjoy a hot drink and a chat.
And its first week of opening organisers were delighted to welcome 30 people through their doors over the course of the afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Church told Lanarkshire Live : "We were blown away by the amount of people who had heard about our new free community cafe last Tuesday.
"It was lovely to see so many people come along and enjoy each others company in a safe, warm environment over a bowl of soup, a cup of tea or coffee and a nice Tunnock's teacake.
"We will be running this non-demnominational initiative, for all ages, over the coming winter months and look forward to meeting new people from our community.
"Please come along and join us on a Tuesday afternoon. You will be very warmly welcomed."
