Pineapple and mango infused ganache, fondant French fries and fried chicken inspired decorations- surely those ingredients could be described as far from usual to have on a wedding cake.
However, Uber Eats’ newest partnership with Filipino fried chicken brand, Jollibee, wants to make less-traditional flavoursome wedding cakes the new normal.
The partnership was formed after research unveiled that conventional wedding food was deemed out of fashion, as a third of Britons (34 per cent) have revealed they will not serve a traditional wedding cake after saying ‘I do’, while 65 per cent do not approve of the go-to fruit sponge covered in marzipan, as they don’t like the taste.

To shake things up, Uber Eats has partnered up with Jollibee to give the classic wedding cake an out of this world makeover- using Jollibee’s famous menu items and ingredients.
Cake flavours include the first tier being sweet and spicy pineapple and sriracha sponge, the second tier being vanilla and ginger flavoured sponge with mango chilli jam filled centre and the third being a chocolate and ginger cake.
While Jollibee is in the works to open 50 sites in the UK by 2025, including Bristol, the limited edition cakes will only be available to order exclusively via the UberEats app on July 1 in three cities: London, Leeds and Nottingham.
Customers are advised to order swiftly for those hoping to fall in love at first bite as the cakes are only available while stocks last.
Matthew Price, General Manager at Uber Eats UK said: “As wedding season approaches, we know there are many couples wanting to serve up something different to a traditional fruit-based wedding cake.
“ It’s also a great opportunity to show off your culinary tastes to your guests; that’s why we’ve teamed up with the much-loved chain Jollibee to create a limited edition run of alternative wedding cakes.”
Ashlee Campbell, Head of Marketing Jollibee Europe, added: “At Jollibee, we love getting creative with delicious flavour combinations so we were delighted when Uber Eats approached us with the challenge of creating a unique wedding cake.
“Our three-tiered non-traditional wedding cake is perfect for anyone looking for something different to serve their guests on their special day.”
