Dubai has taken a major step toward realising one of the most ambitious transport innovations of the 21st century. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has officially signed a contract with Elon Musk’s The Boring Company (TBC) to build the Dubai Loop, a futuristic underground transport system aimed at drastically cutting commute times and easing congestion in the emirate’s busiest districts.
The announcement was amplified on social media when TBC tweeted about the partnership, thanking key UAE leaders including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Mattar Al Tayer and was retweeted by Elon Musk himself with the caption, “Boring Company to build Dubai Loop! (sic)” and accompanying visuals of the project.
