As the US and Israel’s military strikes on Iran continue to escalate into a wider regional confrontation, civil aviation in the United Arab Emirates is facing unprecedented disruption, including at Sharjah International Airport (SHJ). Authorities at Sharjah Airport have issued an urgent passenger advisory urging travellers to stay informed and exercise caution after a series of cancellations and delays stemming from the temporary closure and partial restriction of UAE airspace amid safety concerns tied to the conflict.
In its advisory, Sharjah Airport encouraged all passengers to contact their airlines directly before heading to the airport to confirm the latest flight information, as a number of flights have been cancelled, delayed or rerouted due to the precautionary airspace measures. Passengers were also advised to avoid travelling to the airport unless necessary, since ongoing restrictions could result in further changes at short notice.
