The U.S. Naval Academy and Naval Support Activity Annapolis in Maryland have announced an increase in Force Protection measures following the recent Bourbon Street terror attack. In response to the tragic event, officials have implemented strict guidelines to enhance security and ensure the safety of all personnel and visitors.

Effective immediately, the Naval Academy will restrict access to visitors, allowing entry only for sponsored events. All attendees must undergo a thorough vetting process before being granted permission to enter the premises. Moreover, individuals with credentials are no longer permitted to escort non-credentialed individuals on the grounds, further tightening security protocols.

Furthermore, Greenbury Point, including fenced access roads, established trails, and the nature center, has been closed until further notice by NSA Annapolis. All gates have been equipped with ID checks to monitor and control access to the area.

These precautionary measures come in the aftermath of the tragic incident on Bourbon Street, where a suspect drove a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year's revelers, resulting in the loss of at least 14 lives and numerous injuries. The FBI is actively investigating the attack as an act of terrorism, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance and security measures across various facilities.
