The largest phrase, sprayed in both Portuguese and English, read: "The USA makes war and profits from death," according to the Associated Press. Local police briefly detained one man in connection with the incident but released him without any reported charges, the AP reported. The graffiti went up along a lateral wall in the Setor de Embaixadas Sul, an area of the compound currently undergoing renovation work, according to local reporting.
