WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has declared he will be announcing news regarding a fight next week - but it will not be a unification clash against Oleksandr Usyk.
Despite insisting that he was hanging up his gloves after he brutally knocked out Dillian Whyte in a bumper British heavyweight clash at Wembley in April, Fury recently said that he was ready to postpone retirement plans again in order to set up a mouthwatering winner-takes-all clash against Usyk.
The Ukrainian produced a clinical performance to outclass Anthony Joshua last month to retain his WBO, WBA and IBF titles - and claim the Ring Magazine belt that was vacated after Fury's latest retirement vow.
That had led to hope that Fury and Usyk could come to an agreement for a blockbuster unification clash later this year. Usyk has since outlined that he has no intentions of stepping into the ring again until 2023 - but that hasn't stopped Fury from fleshing out his own plans.
The 'Gypsy King' made his return to the world of WWE on Saturday night when he attended the Clash at the Castle event in Cardiff. And speaking after the show at a press conference, Fury insisted that he will be shedding some light on his immediate plans in the coming days.
He said: "Usyk was calling me out after his last fight with [Anthony] Joshua, I've replied and said let's do the fight this year, wherever they want to do it.

"I've been waiting for offers from countries to come forward, and all of a sudden Usyk has stated he doesn't want to fight any more, he wants to fight next year, not this year. So I'm not going to wait around for anybody, I'm announcing a fight next week."
Just hours before dropping the latest bombshell over his future, Fury caused havoc during the WWE's first stadium event in the United Kingdom for over 30 years.
After being pictured at ringside, Fury interjected in the evening's main event between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre, who were competing for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.
Austin Theory attempted to run in and spoil the match - only to be knocked out by a brutal punch from Fury. The WBC champion then went on to join McIntyre in the ring for a post-fight singalong after the Scotsman had been beaten by Reigns before unveiling his future plans in the post-event media conference.
