Tyson Fury sets deadline on Oleksandr Uysk unification fight amid £500m demand

Tyson Fury has set a deadline for a fight with Oleksandr Usyk and has asked for proof of funds of an offer for £500 million from Saudi Arabia for him to fight the Ukrainian.

Fury has again reiterated that he will remain retired unless the right situation comes up and, more importantly, for the right price. The Gypsy King suggested that he'd reversed his decision to retire after witnessing Usyk's victory over Anthony Joshua this past weekend, and stated that he will return to the ring to face Usyk if he receives an offer which he deems acceptable.

Fury has continuously stated that he will retire after his win over Dillian Whyte he would hang up his gloves at the age of just 33 (he is now 34.)

Fury has named his price, and it's fair to say it's a pretty substantial one.

Fury told talkSPORT: "I will come back but it has to be for obscene amount for money. Lets face it, this isn’t Anthony Joshua - where I would have done the fight for free in England - it is some foreigner who no-one really cares about, and that's it.

"If they want me to fight this unknown quantity and give him the opportunity of legendary status in trying to beat me, they have to pay for it.

"This fight is purely about money. I'm happily retired, I don't need money I've got plenty of money. If they want to see the Gypsy King fight then they have to pay obscene amounts of money. They've got one week, I want proof of funds by September 1 of an offer.

"It’s the biggest fight in the world, it needs to be the biggest pay-day in the world. Mayweather got 400 million for Pacquaio. I want £500 million for Usyk."

He added: "All of the 'pound-for-pound legendary status' - I don't rate him. He will get a good hiding… Let me tell you, I could beat Usyk on a week's training because he's a middleweight, I'll put my fist right through him… It's an easy fight.

"This Alex Oosk guy, he needs the legendary Gypsy King. I don't need him. I've done what I've done, I'm a legend in the game. He needs me, some foreigner who no-one can say his name."
