Tyson Fury reveals Anthony Joshua demands for step-aside offer over Oleksandr Usyk fight

Tyson Fury has revealed Anthony Joshua's demands for him to step aside of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk to make way for Fury to fight the Ukrainian in a unification bout.

Fury had been keen for a heavyweight unification bout but hopes of clashing with Joshua early next year were shattered following his fellow Brit's heavy defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in September.

After the loss Joshua quickly exercised a rematch clause with the Ukrainian, pushing any unification bout further into the horizon.

However, Fury's camp had proposed a deal to Joshua for him to step aside and let Fury fight Usyk.

Reports had emerged that Joshua was willing to accept an offer of £15 million from Tyson Fury's camp.

However, Joshua was quick to respond to the reports, when he urged fans not to listen to 'bulls***' - although he didn't deny he could make the decision.

And now, Fury has revealed that Joshua's camp asked for more money for him to step aside.

Fury told iFL TV: "Joshua wanted more money, £15 million wasn't enough.

"I was told that a deal (for the Usyk fight) was really close. We were all ready to sign and do our part, but then they didn't, they were making so many demands.

"The positive is I get to do my fight on April 23rd.

"I originally wanted to fight March 26, but here we are."

Fury also revealed that a fight with Usyk was made more complicated by the Ukrainian's schedule.

He said: "With Usyk, he said he couldn't fight until the end of May - so that was never going to happen.

"I want to fight three times this year, so I need to stay busy."

Fury all but confirmed the date of April 23 for his fight with Dillian Whyte, which is now highly expected to be held at Wembley Stadium.

Joshua, meanwhile, is set to face Usyk in May - with a venue yet to be named at this point.
