Tyson Fury hails Liverpool fight fans and makes Jurgen Klopp claim ahead of live Empire show

Tyson Fury believes the 'Liverpool people are up there with the best fight fans ever' ahead of his live appearance at the Empire next month.

The WBA Super, IBF, WBO, IBO, Ring magazine and lineal heavyweight champion will be at the Liverpool Empire for one night only on Sunday, July 3, where fight fans will be able to hear his thoughts, live and unscripted, as rumours continue around his retirement from boxing.

Fury retired from boxing after spectacularly knocking out Dillian Whyte in their heavyweight world title fight at Wembley Stadium in April, although most expect the 33-year-old to eventually return to the ring.

As well as hearing plenty of boxing tales from ‘The Gypsy King’, the night of entertainment could also include a song or two from the big man himself. There will also be a special guest appearance from Tyson's dad, John Fury - and world-renowned impressionist Al Foran will also be performing on stage.

And speaking exclusively to the ECHO ahead of the event, Fury was quick to praise Liverpool fight fans. He said: “Looking forward to coming back to Liverpool and they will host the Gypsy King for the first time since my amateur boxing days.

“The Liverpool people are up there with the best fight fans ever, I can't wait to meet some of them in person.”

Fury produced a stunning one-punch stoppage in the sixth round to beat fellow Briton Whyte in his last fight at Wembley a couple of months ago. Fury dominated what was a scrappy bout and then unleashed a vicious right uppercut to send the home of English football wild.

“Greatest night for me was 94,000 people at Wembley Stadium, defending my belts and getting a great KO to send me off,” Fury told the ECHO when asked about his best moment in boxing.

And even though Fury is a life-long supporter of Manchester United, he couldn’t resist praising both Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, describing the Anfield club as one of the 'best football teams in the world'.

“Liverpool FC and Jurgen Klopp are one of the best football teams in the world, good luck to them," he said.

Standard tickets for the show cost £40 and there are limited Gold and Silver VIP photo tickets also available. Tickets can be bought via the Liverpool Empire box office or online here.
