Tyson Fury will face Mariusz Wach in Thailand next month as a warm-up for his pending bout with Anthony Joshua.
Fury’s fight is booked in for July 24, the day before Joshua makes his long-awaited comeback against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia.
That will be the British heavyweight’s first fight since he was injured in a deadly car accident in Nigeria in December 2025, in which two of his close friends were killed.
Fury and Joshua must both win their respective fights in order to set up a bout against one another, which it is hoped will take place before the end of 2026. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has claimed the fighters are contractually obligated to stage that fight in the UK.
Fury, now 37, has chosen Poland’s Wach as his opponent. The 46-year-old stands 6ft7in tall and has won 39 of his 51 career fights, with 20 of those coming by knockout.
He only has three wins in his last ten fights, though. He was stopped in just two rounds by Moses Itauma in July 2024.
Fury came out of retirement to fight Arslanbek Makhmudov in April of this year, 15 months after hanging up his gloves.
After winning that fight by unanimous decision, he called out Joshua, who was sat ringside.
Fury has claimed he was inspired to come out of retirement by Joshua’s accident, saying: “When I heard that news, it was so sad, and I thought to myself, ‘Life is very short,’ and I’ve been a very big advocate of saying, ‘There is no tomorrow.’ Tomorrow is not promised to anybody.
“When things like that happen, it certainly certifies that there is no tomorrow. You’ve got to live every day like it’s your last.”
