Tyson Fury confirms Dillian Whyte fight date as he follows LeBron James strategy

Tyson Fury has once again adopted NBA star LeBron James' social media strategy in the build-up for his heavyweight title fight against Dillian Whyte.

Fury has now started his training camp as he aims to defend his WBC belt against Whyte in an all-British blockbuster clash that is set to be held at Wembley Stadium.

The contracts have now officially been signed by both parties and Fury confirmed on social media on Tuesday that the fight will take place on Saturday, April 23.

It'll be Fury's first first fight on home soil since August 2018, when he beat Francesco Pianeta in Belfast. Since then, his last five fights have all taken place in the United States

In preparation to face Whyte, Fury has followed basketball icon James' routine of going dark on social media in the build-up to the big event.

James is known for using the strategy, going weeks without posting whilst playing in the play-offs.

It's a move which Fury is adopted in his recent fights whilst over the pond - and he'll do the same whilst continuing his training in Morecambe.

The 33-year-old tweeted: "About to go on total blackout until after the fight April 23 2022. Rhere may be update vids but won’t be from me. God bless you."

He added: "I'm about to go off social media for eight-and-a-half weeks. I'm going to go into training camp and give Dillian Whyte all the respect in the world - I will train like he's Muhammad Ali.

"I will never underestimate anyone in my life. And I will give Whyte the respect he deserves coming in as the #1 ranked WBC challenger.

"Please don't phone me, call me, text me or email me. I am out of bounds until May. I will see you all at the press conference."

A follow-up tweet confirmed that any subsequent posts would be sent by Fury's media team.

Whyte secured his WBC mandatory title shot after knocking out Alexander Povetkin last March, while Fury retained his belt with an 11th-round knockout of Wilder in their trilogy fight in October.
