Tyson Fury and Tom Holland have thrown their weight behind football legend Graeme Souness ahead of tomorrow's cross Channel swim. The pair wished the Scotland, Liverpool and Rangers icon, 70, good luck for the 21-mile challenge in online videos.
Souness has so far raised over £1.1million, which will be used to try and help people who suffer from painful skin condition EB. He became involved in the fundraiser, for charity DEBRA, due to his friendship with 14-year-old Scottish schoolgirl Isla Grist.
Isla, from the Black Isle near Inverness, suffers from the condition, which sees her skin tearing and breaking out in painful blisters. In more severe cases it can even cause death.
The World Heavyweight Boxing Champion and Spiderman actor showed their support for Souness, Isla's dad Andy, and others taking on the challenge of swimming from Dover to Calais tomorrow afternoon.
In a video posted on DEBRA's Instagram page, Fury, 34, said: "This is a special message to Andy, Graeme and all the team taking the challenge of swimming across the English Channel to raise money for DEBRA.
"We need to keep going and keep raising money for EB, let's fight it together. All the best, guys. Good luck." Tom, 27, said in his video: "I just wanted to send you a video to wish you all the best and send you my well wishes. I'm so proud of all of you.
"I'm honestly blown away, there's no way I could do what you guys are about to do, so good luck, keep your head down, push through the pain.
"I'm sure it's going to be really tough but just remind yourselves that it is for the greatest cause. Thank you for doing this on behalf of DEBRA. You know how we all feel.
"We're so proud of you, we're so excited for you to achieve this goal. Thank you for what you're doing because it really is amazing. I look forward to hearing how it went. Lots of love guys, good luck."
We told today how the football hero says he is raring to go. The legendary Liverpool and Scotland skipper won three European Cups and 26 other trophies during his glittering career.
But the former Rangers player/manager says the onfield battles and successes he enjoyed are nothing compared to the challenge of swimming to France.
Isla, 14, suffers from a painful condition which sees her skin tearing and breaking out in blisters. And Souness, who wore 11 during his playing days, has raised over £1.1 million towards life-changing medical trials.
Training saw him swimming in the sea near his home on the south coast of England at around 5am three days a week for nine months. To donate visit donate.giveasyoulive.com/fundraising/debraswim
