A TikToker from Co Tyrone couldn’t believe his luck recently when he managed to return a GoPro found in the sea after two years to its original owner.
Marius Monaghan from Fintona found the camera near Rossnowlagh beach in Donegal last weekend and put an appeal out on his social media channels to find the owner.
Marius found footage from two years ago of a man surfing and driving with his friends.

After initially putting out an appeal on his Instagram account, the Co Tyrone man shared it on TikTok and eventually owner Dylan Bagnall from Dublin got in touch.
“My cousin found it just sitting, covered and near the water at the far north side of Rossnowlagh beach,” Marius told MyTyrone.
“I dusted the sand off and cracked open the case. As I was opening the actual doors on the GoPro to get into the camera and the SD card, the whole outer shell of the GoPro started to dissolve off.
“It was like cracking breaking down in my hands. So I could tell it had been in the sea for a long time that it had corroded and eroded away.
“I popped open the SD card and put it into my laptop. Thankfully, it worked so I could see all the footage and the dates of the footage went back to September 2020.”
“I got the footage, clipped a wee bit of it together and put it in my Instagram story and there were loads of responses and people asking if they could share.
“I decided last night to put it on TikTok once I put it on there then it kind of got a bit more traction.”
Dylan reached out to Marius and the Tiktoker, who has almost 200,000 followers on the platform, is arranging to hand it back to him this week.
Marius added: “I woke up having put it up the night before and Dylan had commented saying that it was his.
“He was up in Creevy Pier near Rossnowlagh with his friends for the weekend.
“So I’m going to get it down to him next weekend, so it was definitely a happy ending to the story!”
