Tyrese Campbell to Rangers transfer link resurfaces as striker available on free

Striker Tyrese Campbell is back on Rangers' transfer radar four years after rejecting a move to Ibrox, according to a report.

It's claimed the former Stoke City forward is considering his options this summer with Rangers a possible interested suitor.

Rangers had interest in the 24-year-old - who is son of Premier League hero Kevin Campbell - back in 2020 when Steven Gerrard eyed a pre-contract deal.

Celtic were also thought to be interested in Campbell back then but the played decided to remain in England and knock back both Glasgow clubs to stay at Stoke.

Now, though, Campbell is searching for a new club after leaving the Potters at the end of his contract.

The Daily Mail reports Rangers are among a host of clubs keen to land the striker this summer.

English Championship sides Sheffield United, West Brom, QPR, Preston North End and Cardiff are also thought to be interested in the player.

The former England youth internationalist played 164 times for Stoke City, scoring 36 and providing 21 assists.

The transfer connection comes after Philippe Clement warned Rangers would have to sell players to fund new arrivals.

“That’s the reality,” Clement says when asked if his transfer plans were dependent on players leaving this summer. “That’s the reality that the board told me a few months ago.

“I know this, the recruitment team knows this also. This is the reality of the club. I had other expectations when I came in in October, I have to say.

“But I know the reality now. I am very motivated to build the club and help in that. It’s focusing not only on the short term but also on the long term."
