Tyrell Malacia says he and fellow summer arrivals Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez are “settling in well” at Old Trafford ahead of the new season.
There is a lot of excitement around the trio, who are Erik ten Hag’s first signings as Manchester United manager. They are expected to play important roles this season, so it will help that they are all getting along well already.
Malacia played 280 minutes in pre-season and impressed in his five outings. After signing later in the summer, Eriksen and Martinez only managed to enjoy 81 and 60 minutes for their new team, respectively, but Malacia detailed how he’s still been able to strike up a relationship with the pair.

“I knew Licha [Martinez] because I played against him and it’s great to get to know him properly now,” he told in-house media. “Christian is the same – he speaks Dutch also and he’s a great guy. We are all settling in and it was great to play in pre-season.”
Malacia believes his performances this summer were “quite good”, though he added: “There is always room for improvement and I am talking a lot with the coaches who are helping me a lot. I always want to develop myself and I’m just really happy to be here.”
He added that he was “very excited” to play in the Premier League and work under Ten Hag. “From the first moment I spoke with him on the phone it felt good and now that I’m here it’s even better,” he said.
“The manager is very involved in training and everyone likes that a lot and we are enjoying it. We can all learn a lot from him and it’s good for us all.”
