When the Miami Dolphins take the field for their playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday evening, don’t expect wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Co. to be wearing sleeves.
Despite the fact that temperatures are expected to drop below zero with frigid winds, Hill said he won’t be wearing sleeves as a part of his strategy to tackle the cold, which largely entails Dolphins players believing that it’s not actually cold.
Speaking to reporters about the game Thursday, Hill explained the fearless mentality that he and his teammates must adopt before braving the cold in Kansas City, per Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post.
Tyreek Hill says he will "NOT BE WEARING SLEEVES" on Saturday for the AFC Wild Card game against the Chiefs. Temps are expected to be near 0 degrees at kickoff. "If you believe it's going to be cold, you are going to freeze your balls off." 😂😂😂#FinsUp #ChiefsKingdom pic.twitter.com/3n9WYkXiV6

“Well, it’s a mindset. I feel like if you believe it’s going to be cold, then you’re going to freeze your balls off. But if you go into this game not even thinking any of that, you’ll be fine,” Hill said.
Not only does Hill think that wearing sleeves will make the Dolphins look “soft,” but he also believes that feeling cold is a mindset, one that Miami must not feed when they’re on the field.
If any of the Dolphins know how to brave the Kansas City winter, it’s Hill, who spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Chiefs.
Saturday’s game very well may come down to which team handles the piercing, wintry air better. Kickoff at Arrowhead Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. The television broadcast will air exclusively on the Peacock streaming service.
