Source: Free agent DB Tyrann Mathieu is heading in to the #Saints facility for a visit while he’s in New Orleans with family and friends. Nothing imminent. But one of the top players available will be at his first facility this offseason.

Free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu is visiting the New Orleans Saints at their team facility this week, as first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and confirmed by NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill. Mathieu is a New Orleans native and has been in the area lately catching up with family while taking in LSU Tigers football practices at his alma mater.
Rapoport adds that “nothing imminent” as far as Mathieu signing with New Orleans, but he’s been receptive to the idea of playing for his hometown team when asked publicly. The Saints have a clear need at safety after losing Marcus Williams and Malcolm Jenkins in the same offseason, even if they landed Marcus Maye and brought in veteran backups like P.J. Williams, Daniel Sorensen, and Justin Evans. We’ll see if anything develops on this front.
