He first joined Typhoo Tea, which is headquartered on the Wirral and has a factory in Moreton, as a non-executive director on November 1, 2021.
Mr Kingsley said: "With the recovery of Typhoo Tea well underway, I have decided that now is the time for me to step down from my role as CEO.
"It has been a huge honour and privilege to have played a part in turning around the fortunes of one of Britain’s best loved tea brands. I would like to extend a huge thanks to the entire Typhoo team for helping us to achieve this.
"I know Typhoo is in good hands. Mike has already brought an incredible depth of knowledge and experience into the company, and now as part of the Typhoo team, we can ensure a smooth transition."
Mr Kingsley succeeded Somnath Saha as CEO in 2019 who stepped down in August 2018 after a "difficult" trading period.
Typhoo Tea added that Mr Kingsley is to formally leave the company in October 2022 to enjoy more time with his family, complete renovations in his Irish home and "realise his dream" to travel across the United States, before moving on to non-executive roles.
Mr Brehme added: "The next two years will be defining for Typhoo Tea both in the UK and international markets. I am delighted to be taking on this new role and would like to thank for Des for his work so far.
"Typhoo Tea is an iconic brand and we have big plans in the pipeline to ensure it remains an integral part of what makes us a nation of tea lovers."
Typhoo Tea received investment from Zetland Capital in July 2021.
