Tynemouth hotel set for multimillion-pound transformation as contractor is appointed

Leisure company The Inn Collection Group has appointed a contractor to transform an art deco acquisition on Tyneside into its latest pub with rooms.

Gateshead-based STP Construction is redeveloping the firm’s debut Tyneside site, the Park Hotel in Tynemouth. Work starts later this month at the 53-bedroom former Park Hotel, which is set for a significant conversion that will add 20 extra bedrooms – including sea view rooms and dog-friendly ground-floor suites – an ice cream parlour and fish and chip takeaway.

The multimillion-pound redevelopment is expected to take 11-months to complete, creating new outdoor seating areas and terraces to make the most of its position right opposite Longsands beach. The Inn Collection Group will trade all year round from its Tynemouth site, which it acquired in March 2021, and said the Park Hotel will cater for families and outdoors enthusiasts, with designated dog friendly areas inside the bar and dining areas and outside spaces.
