On March 26, 2024, container ship MV Dali left the Port of Baltimore as it was heading for Sri Lanka. Shortly after leaving the port, the ship lost power and struck one of the pillars of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. A large section of the bridge collapsed into the river, killing six workers who were on the bridge at that time. The accident became one of the most significant US maritime disasters.
