Two 'unexplained' Carluke deaths in 24 hours at homes just 300m apart rocks Lanarkshire town

Two unexplained death probes have been launched in Carluke after the the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered at separate addresses just a day apart.

Officers found the body of a 30-year-old woman who had passed away inside a property on Hozier Street after the alarm was raised shortly before 5pm on Tuesday (February 1).

Less than 24 hours later at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, police were made aware of the sudden death of a 65-year-old man at an address on Cairneymount Road less than half a mile away.

Police are treating both fatalities as unexplained while enquiries remain ongoing, the Daily Record reports.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called around 4.45pm on Tuesday following the sudden death of a 30-year-old woman at an address on Hozier Street, Carluke.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing and the death is being treated as unexplained at this time.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

They added: “Officers were made aware of the sudden death of a 65-year-old man within a property on Cairneymount Road in Carluke at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”

It is understood that the two deaths are being treated as two separate incidents.
