Two people were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in the Britannia hotel in Manchester city centre.
Fire crews raced to the scene yesterday afternoon (Friday) when the alarm was raised after smoke was spotted inside the hotel. The hotel on Portland Street was evacuated by staff.
A spokesperson for the fire service said two people were taken to hospital from the scene for 'precautionary checks due to smoke inhalation'. The blaze was extinguished by firefighters as a crowd of hotel guests and staff waited outside.
