Two suspected gunmen have been named after an incident in a city centre bar.
Merseyside Police surrounded Baltic Studios at the junction of Bridgewater Street and at Jamaica Street at around 5.55pm on Monday, January 9. Three Matrix vans, two Matrix police vehicles, and a small police van were called to the scene, with armed officers also responding.
Police, who did not arrive with blue lights flashing or sirens, then entered the building and arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. A 25-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence
The arrests came after reports a man was seen in a bar in Liverpool city centre with an imitation gun and used it to threaten a man on Sunday, January 8. Detectives have since charged two men.
Kenny Scott, 25, of Robertson Street, Dingle, and Jake Spencer, 22, of Bridgewater Street have been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Both men are set to appear at Wirral Adult Remand court tomorrow, Wednesday 11 January.
