The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off their first loss of the season, a disappointing 32-31 defeat at Oregon.
Up until that battle in Eugene, the Buckeyes didn’t have a blemish on their resume and had been destroying even conference opponents. They were coming off a 35-7 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes entering the Week 7 battle.
With a good chunk of the season now behind fans, CBS Sports has released their Midseason All-America team. Two Ohio State Buckeyes cracked the list, and neither was named Jeremiah Smith.
Ohio State did get one on both sides of the ball as center Seth McLaughlin was named as the lone center on the team. Caleb Downs also made the cut, and he was among two other defensive backs to go along with two cornerbacks to make up the five-player secondary.
Only five players in the Big Ten were named, none of them playing for the No. 2-ranked Ducks. Michigan didn’t have a single player, and No. 3 Penn State had just one.
