On Wednesday, a disturbing incident occurred outside of Hofstra University's sports complex on Long Island following a charter school graduation. Five masked men reportedly stabbed two individuals in what has been confirmed as a targeted attack by a source cited by New York.
The attack took place after the Uniondale Charter School's graduation ceremony concluded just after 4 p.m. outside the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex at Hofstra University in Hempstead. An adult guest was slashed in the leg, while a graduate suffered a slash to the ear, as per reports from the station.
School officials from Academy Charter High Schools have indicated that the attack is believed to be linked to a domestic dispute. They emphasized that the incident occurred outside the graduation venue and that all attendees had passed through magnetometers for security screening.
The security team at the school is said to be collaborating with Nassau County Police and Hofstra Public Safety officers in response to the incident. Both victims were promptly transported to healthcare facilities for treatment and are expected to recover, according to the source.
