The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested three persons, including two shooters, for allegedly planning and killing popular Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moosewala, officers said on Monday.
H.G.S. Dhaliwal, Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), identified the accused as Priyavrat alias Fauji (26), a resident of Sonipat in Haryana; Keshav Kumar (29), a resident of Bhatinda in Punjab; and Kashish, a resident of Hayana's Jhajjar.
The Special CP said that Priyavrat was the one who led a team of shooters and was in direct touch with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar in executing the killing. "He is the main shooter and executioner of the murder," the Special CP said.
Kashish was the other shooter involved, while Kumar was the facilitator. Kumar received the shooters after the incident and dropped them at Mansa district.
Mr. Dhaliwal told mediapersons that the accused had conducted multiple recces before carrying out the murder.
"Eight grenades, nine electronic detonators, three pistols and an assault rifle have been recovered from the arrested accused," he said. They had kept the grenades as an alternative option in case the weapons did not work.
Claiming that two modules were involved in executing the incident, police said that Priyavrat was driving a Corolla which overtook Moosewala's car.
Subsequently, six shooters came out of a vehicle being driven by one of the shooters, who then went on to open fire at the singer. "They left only after confirming that Moosewala was dead," the Special CP added.
Priyavrat was previously involved in two murder cases and was arrested in 2015 for one of them from Sonipat. Kumar is involved in a 2020 murder case in Bathinda and is also suspected to be involved in cases of extortion in Punjab
