Police on Sunday arrested two Russian men allegedly for killing a compatriot and dismembering the body before burying the parts in Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri.

According to police sources, the suspects aged 35 and 38 were arrested at a room in a hotel on Sukhumvit 71 in Watthana district, Bangkok.

Before the arrest, police found from CCTV footage that they had been with a missing Russian man and had ridden a motorcycle which seemed to carry some large object. The CCTV camera was in a housing estate about one kilometre from the location where the body was found.

The victim was identified as Mikhail Emelianov, 30, who ran a cannabis business in Jomtien. He lived in Pattaya.

A Thai woman, 53, earlier told police that a few days ago her dog found a blood-stained human body part.

Body parts inside black plastic bags were then found buried in five pits near a pond not far from her house on Patthanakan 4 Road. The head had a severe wound which indicated it had been hit in the face with a hard object.

Police also found the victim’s clothes and bag buried in another pit in the same area.

Emelianov’s mother, 51, who arrived from Russia, told police that her son had been missing since Jan 8. She said that earlier there was a message demanding the repayment of a 120,000USD debt. She saw the body and confirmed it was her missing son.
