Emergency services rushed to a property in Sunderland yesterday (Tuesday), after a gas explosion erupted at 3.45pm, blowing the roof off and leaving debris scattered in the street.
After arriving at the scene at Whickham Street, two men were taken to hospital suffering blast injuries. One injured party was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, while another was transported to Newcastle's RVI for immediate care, Chronicle Live reports.
“This has been a significant explosion and there has been substantial damage caused to the property in question," explained Deputy Chief Fire Officer Peter Heath, of TWFRS.
