Two restaurants in one Merseyside town have closed their doors on the same day.
The Firepit and The Potting Shed in Southport announced on Facebook today, October 3, that they would be closing down permanently. In identical posts, the restaurants thanked "brilliant locals" and "fantastic staff".
The restaurants were located in the same building, but on different floors, on Lord Street and proved popular amongst locals and both had a four-star rating on Trip Advisor.

People have reacted with sadness to the news and in a local Facebook group one person said: "How sad, I'm afraid many others will follow."
Another commented: "So the Hungry Horse is closed and now this place. Plenty of empty buildings now. Update - just saw a post from The Potting Shed, they are closed also so who is next?"
One man said: "Sadly lot more will close due to costs and people just can’t afford to go out nowadays."
A post on The Firepit's Facebook page said: "The Firepit Sports Bar is now closed permanently, we would just like to give a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us during our time in Southport from the fantastic team to the brilliant locals."
A post on The Potting Shed's Facebook page said: "Potters, we are now closed permanently. We would just like to give a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us during our time in Southport from the fantastic team to the brilliant locals."
