Two people had to be recused after becoming stuck in the sand 400m out to sea.
Fire crews and the Coastguard were called to Crosby Beach on Monday afternoon. Upon arrival, they discovered the two people stuck in a mudflat up to their knees off Mariners Drive.
After a multi-agency meeting to discuss a rescue plan both people were safely extracted from the mudflat and transferred on foot to Crosby Leisure Centre to be checked over by North West Ambulance staff. It is not thought they suffered any serious injuries.

One person who was at the scene said: "I'd been on the beach for about an hour and started hearing sirens from behind the Mariners Road car park and thought nothing of it. Then saw what I think is an RNLI van come from another part of the beach with its sirens on.
"There’s been a flurry of emergency services coming down for the last 15 minutes or so, and they've gathered quite a way from me with a bit of a crowd gathering. I heard on the radio as one of them walked past someone has got stuck in the mud.”
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: "Crews arrived at the scene to find 2 people trapped in the mud up to their knees, both not thought to be suffering any serious injury. After a multi-agency meeting to discuss a rescue plan, crews set up rescue equipment and assisted Coastguard, with Coastguard focusing on one person and MFRS on the second person.
"Both people were successfully rescued from the mud by 2.09pm and are being transported on foot to Crosby Leisure Centre rendezvous point to be checked over by North West Ambulance staff."
