Two people have been taken to hospital with “serious” injuries following a two-car crash as both vehicles caught on fire on a busy road in the Highlands.
Emergency services were called to the crash near Coachford, south of Keith, along the busy A96 road at around 2.50pm on Saturday.
Pictures from the scene by the Press and Journal show both the vehicles burnt out after the crash as firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Police, fire and ambulance services were all deployed to the scene.
Both drivers were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where their condition is described as “serious” but not life-threatening.
The road was closed for around four hours before it reopened.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 2.50pm on Saturday, July 6, 2024, police received a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A96, near the junction with the B9115 south of Keith.
“Both drivers were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The road was cleared around 6.40pm.”
