A DOG has been put down and two people have been charged after a child was attacked in Glasgow.
The 10-year-old girl was attacked on Maukinfauld Road, Parkhead at around 3pm on Wednesday.
Ten police vehicles were seen near a Lifestyle Express shop on nearby Rattray Street, which was cordoned off.
The cordon extended to a row of houses with crowds of neighbours standing around on the street with police.
The child was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident and has since been released.
Officers have charged a 52-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman in connection with the alleged dog attack.
The animal involved has been euthanised, police said.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Wednesday, October 30, we received a report of a dog having attacked a ten-year-old girl on Maukinfauld Road, Glasgow.
“She was taken to hospital and released after treatment.
“A 52-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman have been charged in connection with this incident. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“The dog was euthanised following this incident.”
Police originally said the girl was seven years old, but this has been corrected to 10.
